Chloe is a hidden treasure buried within Old City! Chloe began seven years ago when Dan Grimes and Mary Ann Ferrie decided to form their own restaurant - after years of working together at The Latest Dish.

The found a wonderful spot - tiny in size - but perfect in atmosphere. The place is candlelit to a warm glow and it is the interaction between the dining customers and the servers and even the owners, that give this place it's overall charm.

Now, before I get into the food - the fact is the place can be a bit noisy at times (when all tables are buzzing etc) - but its not a distraction, just one of the ingredients that give this venue its casual feel.

Now the food! The menu changes with the season and features some wonderful dishes. Start off with the Chloe Salad; baked panko crusted goat cheese, mixed greens, red onion, topped with an orange chipotle dressing. Summer on a plate!

If that doesn't interest you, they have a decent selection of starters; salads and such - including the a grilled free form pizza with fig jam, gorgonzola, applewood smoked bacon and extra virgin olive oil.

Then for the large plates, they offer a spectrum of dishes including a great roasted pumpkin and ricotta ravioli with dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds and brown sage butter. If you're looking for something a bit 'meatier' - try the lamb ... grilled Moroccan spiced lamb skewers, minted couscous, cooling cucumber raita and spicy tomatoes. Or perhaps the sushi grade tuna seared rare with banana ginger soy broth, jasmine rice, seaweed salad & crispy wonton chips.

But save some room for the desserts - which vary daily and are sinfully fresh!

Chloe is unique in that it is a BYOB that takes no reservations and also no credit cards. Additionally, this treasure box is only open Wednesday through Saturdays from 5 - 9:30. With that said - it's worth the trip - especially on a Wednesday or Thursday night, when the wait isn't long (if at all).

SIP: Kosher wines uncork their premium side

Vintner Ernie Weir wants to make one thing perfectly clear. Yes, his wines are kosher. But first and foremost, they are award-winning Napa Valley wines.

On the off chance you've been wondering about all this fuss over pork belly - the suddenly u-pig-uitous staple in Philly kitchens that has been slow-braised, red-cooked, deconstructed into nuevo "al pastor," tossed in salad dressing, folded into bao buns, tucked into raviolis, tea-smoked, or dry-cured into fancy burger bacon - may I recommend putting Fond on your speed dial.

Philly's magic BYOB machine has produced yet another winning bistro for an emerging neighborhood, this time with young talents from Le Bec-Fin and Lacroix bringing sophisticated New American dining to an intimate dining room on East Passyunk Ave. The small menu has some memorable moments, the service is refined and outgoing. With more maturity and consistency, this promising gem can become special.

DINING REVIEWCRAIG LaBAN

The Bell Key Superior: Rare; sets fine-dining standards. Excellent: Excels in every category of the dining experience. Very Good: Interesting, with above-average food.

Texas BBQ, come to Phila.

South Street, even on the tamer blocks west of Sixth, won't ever be confused with the actual South. But for some reason - or possibly just blind coincidence - it has given rise to an uncommon number of barbecue joints, among them the estimable Bea Bea's Lawnside BBQ, now occupied by a lesser rib crib, and Phoebe's, also a shadow of its former self.
