Are any of you familiar with the restaurant space at the Jenkintown Train station? The most well-known was Stazi Milano, back in the 90's. I think it was Stazi for many years, but when that closed, it has become one of those restaurant graveyard places. Though, I can't tell if it is always the same owner, just trying a new concept. They haven't changed the space, which while I find funny, I also am happy, because I have always loved the look of the place. I can still sit at the same booth I sat when I was taken there for my 29th birthday a *few* years ago.
Whatever it is, I usually try it. It's convenient. When I worked in the city, Jenkintown was my stop. I have always found the restaurants at the station there pleasant enough. Nothing to rave about, but if you and a friend find yourselves getting on or off there, it's always a pretty good rest stop.
I noticed about 2 weeks ago that there was a new sign - Mio Pomodoro replacing Jonathan's. My friends and I went there, as we got off the train one night. We laughed when we saw that it looks like the only thing they changed was the name. The space, the decor and even the menu looked completely untouched.
We just wanted a quick bite, so we all got beers and sandwiches. I don't remember what I got because all i do remember was having Dinner Envy. Don't you hate that???? My friends both got burgers, and they looked and smelled so yummy. And they were sitting atop - my favorite! - brioche rolls. I told Dan that he had to give me the obligatory girlfriend taste. That only made it worse. It was a seriously good burger. Fries weren't bad either.
So....if you find yourself near the station, hop off for a burger and a beer. Mio Pomodoro...or whatever they will call it next month.
